Johnson House part of award-winning history education program

Educational resourcesAnonymous writes "The Johnson House continues to offer dynamic education programs to young people, showing students the importance of where they live. Fast becoming an integral part of Johnson House education program is History Hunters Youth Reporter program, a unique education program that connects Philadelphia School District children and teachers to four historic houses in Germantown. Last school year, the History Hunters program offered over 1000 students free transportation to 4th to 8th students in the Northwest region to Johnson House, Stenton, Wyck, and Cliveden of the National Trust where they engaged in hand-on history activities and literacy-based workbook exercises. School District of Philadelphia CEO Paul Vallas recently singled out the program for praise, calling it "not only an enriching program for students in Philadelphia, but a model for education programs around the country." Toward that end, the Pennsylvania Federation of Museums and Historic Sites recently bestowed its 2004 Award for Excellence to History Hunters!
